Mini's On My Mind by qmorley Mini's On My Mind by qmorley
"...A virus. Mini Coopers are a disease, a cancer of this planet..."

You can't get away from them! =)

They aren't that bad. And it's a good thing too because they multiply so fast!

Shot out the window of a 1975 Saab 99.

Love this photo. The black & white save for the side mirror reflection is a fantastic touch.

Thanks!

I had no idea I was going to do it until I noticed the mirror was about a half stop darker than the rest of the photo. I had to do work on it by itself already.. figure I already made a layer mask so... what the hell. :)

Yeah I couldn't believe how many there were. I was like, this is a HISTORIC auto race event and 4 million coopers show up? wtf?

I'm still confused.

lol 4 million!?

just the fact that there were 4 million is shocking...and then at a historic auto race...even weirder.

There were more mini coopers there than any other kind of car. It was ridiculous. I'd say around 50. Not all went for the parade lap, either. The cars in this picture are lined up to go on the track, but not everyone goes.

now the real question is, how did you convince them to race your Saab? :)

Monochroming the forward shot and leaving the color on the mirror adds that extra touch. AKA I like the shot.

...i think the previous person should see a 60's mini, or any of the sub compacts you'll find outside the US before he calls the new one small. The yugo, gnome, alto, ka and lupo come to mind.

Ha I know, I know, what about the small little Japanese cars they have? I remember theres at least one subaru where the seat rotates because otherwise you cant get out of it(or it makes it substantially easier)...the R1 i think its called, or the Daihatsu Copen....that thing looks fairly small

The BMWini isnt the smallest thing in the world I know...I've seen a Smart Fourtwo locally and a classic Mini

Sorry if my previous post made me seem ignorant to the fact that the mini isnt the smallest car sold in the world :3

This is no ordinary Saab. It has racing springs, shocks, and giant sway bars on minilite wheels with 205 rubber. You can't get it to lean in a corner, it would eat minis for breakfast. The engine is unmodified but runs a nicely advanced timing and has Jack Laurence's MSS Performance header and complete exhaust system. The car is better than it was in 1975 when it rolled off the line. :)

The Autobianchi A112 comes to mind also. Or the BMW Isetta? :)

Wow...thats a lot of Minis...very nice pic though

my only complaint with the new coopers are the price @.@ Ai yah, take a Cooper S and add a couple options and the thing is topping $30k way too easily

And the size isnt thrilling either, I'm only 5'7 but eh...I mean I really don't want a land yacht, just a size up from a Mini (ie Golf GTI or such)

It's not so much the size but the way all the plastic shit intrudes on the passenger compartment. It's a growing problem with new cars, more plastic every year getting closer and closer, so I just prefer my '76 Saab. :)

I dont mind plastic so long as its not rubbish quality

Actually i dont think i liked the speedo in the mini, it dominates the interior..and the seats look too ovally and not well supported for turns...

Actually my mom and i have been discussing this with for when i get a car, I was telling her I'm torn between going to a dealer and buying something new off the lot (Since im not in college or such i can afford such an expense with a job) or going and purchasing something nice from the 70's or 80's (Sadly no Saabs in there, partially because my list is already 2 miles long xD)

First one is a 99 Turbo, second one is a 900 Special Performance Group (SPG)

My first car was a 99 Turbo that I wrecked into a tree! It's a shame because they are very rare.

:iconqmorley:

0-60 in around 8 secs, 1/4 mile in 16's

because they are already turbocharged, however, they are really easy to modify. :)

My friend has a mini, and I guess the whole Moscow's scared of her riding it.)) It often looks like a psychotic red spot with nothing but music in it.)))

They should always be driven quickly. If I see a slow one I pass it real good. :)

New Minis are a disease. The old ones are much cooler. In fact, they should call the new ones Maxi Coopers based on their size compared to the original Mini.

Still, they are a good car, it's just what they have become that I have a problem with.

You can't say the same for the PT cruiser. :shutter:
