Smashin' a Hairpin by qmorley Smashin' a Hairpin by qmorley
It's nice to have some new pictures in my typical style!

This is a true hairpin corner, and I'm in love with it. I wish I could have gotten back there on Sunday, but I got stuck at the spectator area! Bummer!

Ken Block at the Oregon Trail Rally '07

This shot would not have been possible without 1600 ISO. In the future I am going to stick to 400, which would turn this into a 1/80th sec exposure and I would have had to rely on panning alone to creat a good picture. I hope this style of shooting translates well to pan shots for me, but I'm afraid I will mess up alot of good pictures first.

I was a couple feet from a mighty douglas fir tree, I usually set it up so if anything bad happens I can let my weight carry me down the hill and the tree will stop the car. The plan is usually to just fall backward, not try to jump or run or anything. Big trees and big stumps - that is the ticket. :)

good idea,
safety is number one, but sometimes you have to trade it for "the shot"
