I had a great time at Olympus this year. On Saturday I ditched my assignment at the ORV park to head into the woods where I was on some of the most amazing corners I have been lucky enough to photograph. I must have walked over a mile, I'm not sure. There were 3 corners in a row that were really exciting. I walked to the farthest one and did some shooting, and almost got killed by all the rocks hitting me! Then I hiked back to a more reasonable corner for some safe shooting! Here are some of the shots from day one, stages 6 and 9 (skookum stages) of the Olympus International Rally:

Sunday I went to my assigned location, we met at 7:00 AM by the Simpson Timber Co. Mill 5 Mainline. It was funny because a few of us were early, and the official rally crew showed up at 6:59:47. Like 10 cars at once. I know they are rally guys, but thats ridiculous!
I actually got MY NAME written in as an assignment on my favorite corner! I couldn't believe it. There are some older pictures from me on this same corner, one I even titled "The Perfect Corner"
It's not really perfect, but nothing in rally is. Here are the shots from day two, stage 12 (nahwatzel stages) all from instruction 25:

I would also have stuff for you from stage 15 but my battery died. Seems I shot a few too many pictures, around 10 per car, on stage 12! It's okay though, because I had a holga and 2 rolls of b+w with me! I can't wait to get them developed. I also shot a few off from a disposable camera. I cant wait to see. No one brings a holga to a rally. It's probably never happened before!
Anyways I had a great time, and Ramana Lagemann who is one of my favorite drivers finished first. Here is a shot of him from the 2003 wild west rally on this exact same corner:
Congrats Ramana! It was a good show.
Saab Festival here I come! See you guys in 10 days.
